FAQ   -   Hardwood   -   Installation

Why do you install a hardwood perpendicular to the joist's direction?

From our past experiences, laying the hardwood floor parallel to the joist's direction makes the floor wavy (cupping), and makes a squeaky noise. By laying the hardwood floor perpendicular to the joist's direction, it gives strength and makes no squeaky noises. If you have to lay a hardwood floor parallel to the joist's direction in a small area, you may do so.
