FAQ   -   Carpet   -   Construction

What's the difference between loop carpet and cut pile carpet?

Loop carpet is loomed(manufactured) by pushing fibers through a backing material, which forms a loop that shows on the face of the carpet. The material is then passed through a machine that applies a coating to the back, which locks the fibers.

Cut pile carpet is made the same way, but one further step is made by shearing off the top. Different backings, quality and thickness as well as the density of fibers affect quality and cost.
