Our Business   -   Repairing Glue-Down and Parquet Floors

"It's not easy to take up glued-down wood, and parquet floors. But K&K Floors' high-tech tool can take up any glued-down wood, or parquet floors."

If the time comes when you have to patch a damaged parquet floor you installed yourself, you will appreciate having bought more tiles than you actually needed to lay the floor. Finding parquet tiles that blend seamlessly with an existing floor is almost impossible - especially since wood changes color as it ages.
The technique for replacing damaged tiles is similar to the steps for repairng strip flooring: Remove the damaged section, then cut and install replacement tiles to fit the opening.

Cutting out the damage

Adjust the blade depth of a circular saw to the flooring thickness, then cut just inside the edges of the damaged section - in this example, a section of a single tile.

Preparing the opening

Place a butt chisel on any remaining waste, with the bevel facing the opening. Strike with a hammer to chip out the waste. Scrape old adhesive off the subfloor.

Laying a replacement tile

Cut the bottom lips off the tile's grooves. Smooth the edges of the tile with 120-grit sandpaper. Spread adhesive on the subfloor with a V-notched trowel and lay the tile.
